Bad Planet 10 Years!

Kevin sent me 3 songs last week. Trying to figure out the time and place to jam. Bad Planet Celebrated Ten Years June 17th 2009....!

Jammed for a couple of hours and played 4 or 5 of the older stuff. First jam Kevin and i have done this year.

Studio Mixing

Went to the studio today and mixed all 4 tracks. Jody Hill is doing an amazing job, on top of playing bass and adding keyboard parts, he has pushed Kevin and I further than we have ever been. The best producer/engineer we have ever worked with.

4 Songs are done, just need another mixing session to get things just right.

We are taking a few weeks off, probably til after Christmas, then the first of the year we will continue with the other songs...

Recorded for a few hours today...Two of the tracks are done, Jody is going to mix for a day or two then we will move on to the others...

Sorry i haven't posted in a few weeks, Started back to fall semister at school, day job at Gibson, computer repair by night, drummer in a band, superhero....There's just not enough hours in the day...

I Heard the Bass tracks today that Greg Carmichael recorded for us. Very Good stuff there Greg! I was surprised about how well that it flows with the mood of the songs, considering he has never even jammed with Bad Planet. I hear him play guitar at work sometimes but i didnt know he was that good of a bass player also. I think we will use the 2 tracks pending Kevins approval this weekend when he hears it...Will keep the 2 tracks that Jody Recorded cause it's too perfect...Guess there will be two bass players on the CD...

With the Vocals almost finished on the first 4 tracks, and then a week or two of mixing we should be able to post the new tracks in just a few more weeks....

After work today I went to ELECTRAPHONIC Recording Studio with my Friend Philip of The Harmony Brothers who are recording a CD there. The engineer, producer is none other than Scott Bomar. Yea, That Scott Bomar...lol...Black Snake Moan Soundtrack Producer, Composer...His Credits are too many to name here....but anyway after he and I talked for a minute or two we discovered we had crossed some of the same paths in Memphis in the Past.

But anyway, we discussed working together in the future.........................stay tuned....

I bought a Nintendo Wii system tonight so i will not be avaible for several months....LOL...::Rich::....

Yesterday Jody gave me a disc of the two songs he has recorded on bass. Very different from the previous versions. Even Kevin and I are Recording the songs different from ever before. Amazing how songs change over time. Also Greg Carmichael (photo @ left) guitarist for the NMB band told me Friday that he was interested in recording with us. Hes going to record Sunday with Jody and Kevin and I will go to the Studio in the next week or two and check out what he has done.

I spent the most of the last year with Daniel at practice one week and Kevin at Practice the next week. There were issues between them that completely disrupted the progress of the band. I have waited and waited to post this announcement but with the events of the last few days it is painfully obvious that the drama has only gotten worse and there seems to be no solution in site.

I'm not saying it was all Daniels fault, cause it wasn't, but until something changes there is no productive way to continiue.

So at this time Kevin and I are moving foward , I Don't know what else to say now, cause i really held on to the dream of it all working out. I wish Daniel the best and hopefully we can remain friends and one day jam again.



Our Producer, Jody Hill has taken over Bass Duties for the time being...

Jody caught me at work today and said he had 2 of the 4 tracks recorded and would resume tonight. Maybe can put the vocal tracls down sat>?

Phil left work at 12:30 and ran down south main St. to do a live show on WEVL and then ran back to work to finish building Guitars. Very Cool. Phil and Nick have done more gigs than Practices. Amazing!.....

Kevin recorded the Acoustic Guitar parts today. Kevin, Jody and I jammed for an hour or so and then played the Bad Planet Tunes so Jody could get the feel of everything. Played some Zep, Black Sabbath and Metallica and then just kinda free jammed for a bit. Very Cool Jam Today.

I forgot my Camera so i took a few shots with my cell phone. The last two while we were playing.

Kevin Recorded Guitar tracks Tuesday Night. Jody did a great job getting different guitar sounds by changing amps and settings and then blending the tracks together. He is doing a great job recording and mixing and getting progress made each session. He has gave us a few more paths to take with our songs that we did not have before.

Gina came to the studio tonight and it was really great seeing her.

While I'm thinking about it, Kevin and i have been friends 10 years this summer (since our days working at the record store checking out tha skirts..........:) and I would like to Thank Him for sticking by me and letting me live out my Rock and Roll Fantasy!!!! We've had the band since June 1999 and have played almost 100 gigs together and i still love every song he has wrote and hope to continue playing with him til he rolls me off in the Mississippi river when I'm old and gray, and God knows I'm almost there....lol...but anyway if you read this Kevin, Thanks dude...

Picked up my drums from the studio tonight. It was raining and muggy out and i think none of us felt like recording, so we talked for an hour or so. Jody is going to record the bass tracks after Kevin finishes his guitar and vocal tracks. Interesting to see where this will lead to..........

Rerecorded a couple of spots i screwed up last session, (Hey, don't you guys know how to cut and paste)...lol... My drum tracks are done for the first 4 songs..
